Since the time of my daughter’s diagnosis of SMA Type 2, God has blessed our family with many people to help steer through the unknown and let us know that we are not in this fight alone but together and that He is with us. The world of education can be such a scary place and we, as parents, of course, want nothing but the best for our children. Yet, without a manual of instructions, trying to advocate can be very challenging and leave you feeling alone and unheard most days.
Ms. Amy S. has truly made an impact on our family, and especially myself. I no longer fear/dread going into my daughter’s IEP meetings and I know at the end of the day, that my daughter’s needs are heard and acknowledged. Instead of feeling like I am advocating on my own, she makes you feel like she is right there by your side, holding your hand, fighting side-by-side together. Even though she is in charge of many, she has the gift of making each person feel so loved, unique, and special.
